Wow, OMG, it's 2006!! And as you can see I've gotten off to a swinging start. And by swinging start I mean I've started 2006 limping out of the gate. I'm not gonna lie, I couldn't be bothered to open the link to page where I write these things let alone actually write a new article. I've been super lazy over the past week and a half or so. Oh well, little holiday for CPunch. Let's get to some business.
Underrated
Prunes - Being regular never tasted so sweet. Seriously. I'm not one to talk to about fecal matter very often. Ok, so that's a lie. But I never seriously considered the health options give lovely sun-dried fruit gave me. (Hey, did you know prunes are sun-dried plums?!) Well, I bought a tub of them a week or so ago and let me tell you, I'm like clockwork now. The porcelain doesn't even know what hits it. It was corn. That's what it was.
Myspace - I'll tell you why this actually cracked my Underrated list; it keeps me from killing myself at work. My current job at the Worldwide Leader can be so boring, we can have so little work sometimes, that I just sit at my desk and tool around on the internet while listening to CD's and playing free games. With this page always open I can pretty much talk to any other friends of mine that are bored as well and don't have access to AIM or something. I feel like it's a pretty sad day when I consider something like Myspace an asset to my life. Shoot me now.
iPod - I had never owned one before Christmas...then I received the new video version as a gift. This thing is awesome. I downloaded a Live music video within days of getting it and it looks so mint on that little screen. My question, though, was can you import your own videos - you know, ones that you've downloaded already? The answer is yes. As long as the video is an mpg file, or you have a conversion program (avi to mpg), you can load up anything you want. You just need to convert your video into the ipod format which you can do with Quicktime. The conversion takes a pretty long time (a 6 min. video could take 45 min). But I'll deal with that to have the option of Tera Patrick getting teabagged on my iPod. That's just classy, baby.
Overrated
My Organization - Now, since I got this new iPod I've decided it would be a good idea to rip all my cd's (all 500+ of them) to my computer so that I would have a) complete albums and b) the best audio source. Well, I started doing this Christmas night. I'm still going strong as I'm writing this. Every night when I get home I've been sitting here taking CD's in and out of the rom drive to get ripped to my hard drive. Well, save for New Year's Eve. That was beer pong time. After I rip all the CD's I will then have to make sure all the songs' ID3 tags are correct (they are what you see on the screen, not the filename). And after that I will import the album artwork of every single album so when a song from that album plays you can see the artwork. It's a very cool idea but it takes longer than it used to take me to take a dump (yea, I went there). But even though this process really, really sucks, my iPod is going to be so pimp afterwards you'll all wish you had one like mine. If only that would happen more often.
The U - Most, if not all, of you know I attended the University of Miami. That said, my school shat the bed this weekend. First they do it literally by getting steamrolled by LSU in the Peach Bowl. I'm pretty sure they thought they were playing on January 2nd. This capped off a season that had a lot of promise even after the opening day loss to Florida State. Then, as fans and students grew restless with Head Coach Larry Coker's inability to make quality decisions and keep a team with so much raw talent focused on the task at hand, the athletic department fires four assistant coaches...all of whom have been there before Coker became the head coach in 2001. Four assistants. Granted I don't like our playcalling but c'mon guys. These four coaches weren't the reason we've been slipping the past few years. The only change to the program has been Coker. He inherited former head coach Butch Davis' group of recruits and won a National Title (we should have three in a row). And now we look like a group of lost boys not quite sure how to use the massive amounts of talent we have. It's pretty annoying especially when you're most explosive player leaves early for the NFL. 2006 was supposed to be the year the Canes battled for the National Title (more so than every other). Now, I don't know.
Pebblebrook Apt. Safety - This is the apartment complex that I currently live in in Connecticut. It's a pretty shady complex to say the least. My roommate said he saw four police cars around our building with cops milling about with flashlights three days in a row last week. On top of that, every time it snows they do a terrible job of plowing and de-icing the driveways and parking lots. Someone will break their neck one of these days. You walk outside and there's a sheet of ice over the parking lot and you're just hoping you can make it to your car without the ground giving you a brian hemorrhage. These guys' half-assery is dangerous to everyone that lives here. Don't get me wrong, I secretly wish I would slip and fall and break my arm or something so that I could sue this place for negligence. But then again I appreciate my health...unlike those dirty hippies...and the Amish.
