Bonds...Barry Bonds: American Asshole

If anyone, and I mean anyone, was surprised to hear that Jason Giambi and Barry Bonds admitted to using steroids this week, so help me God, I will track you down and castrate you with a rusty spoon. Finally reality caught up with us.

Anyone with half a brain cell always knew these two (and many others...I'm looking in your direction Mr. McGwire and Mr. Sosa) doped up. Anyone that looks at pictures or video from 1989 when Bonds and McGwire were like two bills soaking wet knows that you don't turn into no-neck having Joe Benchpress's overnight. It's ridiculous the physical changes these guys went through over their careers. The four names mentioned are the most prominent and it's only a matter of time until McGwire and Sosa confess. Albeit, McGwire admitted to doing Andro back in 1997 or thereabouts which at the time was legal. But unless you've been living in Ignoranceville, USA, you know he was doing more.

Not only physical appearance but statistics show the change. Look at Sammy Sosa's homerun totals for his career real quick. Starting in the year 1989 through 2004 (he only played in 67 games in 1992). 8, 15, 10, (8), 33, 25, 36, 40, 36, 66, 63, 50, 64, 49, 40, 35. Look at the jump from 1991/1992 to 1993! Look at the jump from 1997 to 1998 when he (and McGwire) broke Roger Maris's then record of 61 homeruns in a season! Are you kidding me?

Bonds has had a steady homerun total every year since 1992 really, always staying above 34 homeruns. Except the jump he made in 2001 when he broke McGwire's record with 73 homeruns (up from 49 the year before).

McGwire, with the exception of his second season, hovered around 30 homeruns a year until 1996 when he hit 52...then 58...then 70...then 65...then 32 in only 97 games in 2000.

I mean, hell! What kind of era of baseball have we been living in? How many goddamn asterisks should there be in the record books?! And it's not just the records that get compromised in all of this - how about the outcome of so many games and ultimately, the seasons? The San Francisco Giants would not have made it to the 2001 World Series. They wouldn't even be half as good if Bonds hadn't been juiced for God knows how many years. And Bonds wouldn't be even close to breaking Hank Aaron's record which he'll most certainly break considering his contract goes through 2006.

You know what I say? Expel Bonds and Giambi and Sosa and McGwire from baseball...forever. Just like Pete Rose. If you think that's a little harsh then ok, just Bonds. The other three will have their contracts terminated (excluding McGwire who's retired), never allowed to play in Major League Baseball again, get asterisks next to their name in every record book and be fined $3 million. Same would go for Bonds but his name is taken out of the record books altogether. Everything that's happened to Pete Rose should happen to him. Because not only has he severely tainted the game but he's a huge dick as well. I can tell you this from personal experience (Atlanta 2000).

Pete Rose did nothing that actually affects how the game is played. He bet on who would win but he always played his heart out. Everything he did on the field was from the heart and soul. It was all legit, all his natural talent. His records should be in tact and he should eventually be let into the Hall of Fame. The reason I don't say he should now is because of the length of time of the lie to the American people and MLB.

So...let Barry Bonds rot in hell and let the others pay their fair price. They've tarnished America's pastime worse than anyone I can think of including the Black Sox team of 1919 and Ty Cobb (who was just an asshole).

Suck it Barry. Suck it long, and suck it hard you sick son of a bitch.
